	This week's pattern: Easy-Knit Polarspun Hooded Pullover Degree of Difficulty: EASY SIZE Directions for 6 -12 months (1 -2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 years) Finished chest 24 (26, 28, 31, 34, 36)" MATERIALS LION BRAND Polarspun - 3 (3, 4, 4, 5, 6) balls #139 Hot Pink or color of your choice (use red for a delifully snuggly holiday sweater!) Polarspun (Article #360) comes in 1-3/4oz/137 yd balls Size 7 + 9 (4.5 + 5.5 mm) needles, or size to get gauge Stitch holders GAUGE 14 sts + 19 rows to 4" (10 cm) using size 9 (4.5 mm) needles in St st (knit on RS, purl on WS). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE M1 (make 1) An increase worked by lifting the horizontal thread lying between the needles and placing it onto the left needle. Work this new stitch through the back loop. BACK Using smaller needles, cast on 42 (46, 50, 54, 58, 62) sts, work in 2x2 rib for, 1 1/2", ending with a RS row. Next Row Rib to end, inc 0 (0, 0, 0, 2, 2) sts across row - 42 (46, 50, 54, 60, 64) sts. Change to larger needles. Cont in St st until back measures 11-1/2 (13-1/2, 15-1/2, 17, 19, 21)", ending with WS row. Shape Shoulders: Next Row Bind off 14 (16, 18, 19, 21, 23) loosely, k 13 (13, 13, 15, 17, 17), bind off 14 (16,18, 19, 21, 23) sts loosely. Leave center 14 (14, 14, 16, 18, 18) sts on a stitch holder. FRONT Using smaller needles, cast 42 (46, 50, 54, 58, 62) sts, work in 2x2 rib for 1-1/2", ending with RS row. Next Row Rib to end, inc 0 (0, 0, 0, 2, 2) sts evenly across row - 42 (46, 50, 54, 60, 64) sts. Change to larger needles and cont in St st until front measures 9 (11, 13, 14-1/2, 15-3/4, 17-3/4)" ending with a WS row. Shape Neck: Next Row K17 (19, 21, 22, 24, 26) turn, leave rem 25 (27, 29, 32, 36, 38) sts on holder. Work on these 17 (19, 21, 22, 24, 26) sts only, as follows: Next Row Purl. Work 3 rows, dec 1 st at neck edge in every row - 14 (16, 18, 19, 21, 23) sts. Cont even until front measures 11-1/2 (13-1/2, 15-1/2, 17, 19, 21)'', ending with a WS row. Bind off loosely. With RS facing, rejoin yarn to rem 25 (27, 29, 32, 36, 38) sts, bind off 8 (8, 8, 10, 12, 12) sts and k to end 17 (19, 21, 22, 24, 26) sts. Reverse for left neck. SLEEVES Using smaller needles, cast on 26 (26, 30, 30, 34, 34) sts. Work in 2x2 rib for 1-1/2 ", ending with a RS row. Next Row Rib 4 (4, 6, 6, 8, 8), M1, (rib 6, Ml) 3 times, rib 4 (4, 6, 6, 8 8) - 30 (30, 34, 34, 38, 38) sts. Change to larger needles and cont St st, inc 1 st at each end of 5th and every 8th (6th, 10th, 6th, 7th, 6th) row - 36 (40, 42, 48, 52, 56) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 8 (9-3/4, 11-1/2, 13, 14-1/2, 15-1/2)", ending with WS row. Bind off loosely. HOOD Using larger needles, cast on 12 (12, 14, 14, 17, 17) sts, with RS facing, k across 14 (14, 14, 16, 18, 18) sts left on holder for back and cast on 12 (12, 14, 14, 17, 17) sts - 38 (38, 42, 44, 52 , 52) sts. Next Row P2 (2, 4, 4, 5, 2), inc in next st, [p2 (2, 2, 2, 5, 3), inc in next st], 2 ( 2, 2, 2, 1, 3) times, p8 (5, 5, 6, 8, 5), M1, [p4, (2, 2, 2, 4, 4), M1] 1 (5, 5, 5, 3, 3) times, p8 (5, 5, 6, 8, 5) , inc in next st, [p2 (2, 2 2, 5, 3), inc in next st] 2 (2, 2, 2, 1, 3) times, p2 (2, 4, 4, 5, 2) 46 (50, 54, 56, 60, 64) sts. Cont in St st until hood measures 6-1/2 (7, 7-1/2, 8, 8-3/4, 9)", ending with WS row. Next Row Loosely bind off 15 (16, 18, 19, 20, 21), k 15 (17, 17, 17, 19, 20, 21), loosely bind off 15 (16, 18, 19, 20, 21) sts 16 (18, 18, 18, 20, 22) sts. With WS facing, rejoin yarn to rem 16 (18 , 18, 18, 20, 22) sts and purl to end. Cont in St st until hood measures 4 (4-1/4, 4-3/4, 5-1/4, 5-1/2, 6)" from bound off sts, ending with a WS row. Bind off loosely. Hood Border Join hood seams. With RS facing, using smaller needles, pick up and k 18 (19, 21, 21, 22, 23 sts) on right hood side, 16 (18, 18, 18, 20, 22) sts along hood top and 18 (19, 21, 21, 22, 23) on left hood side - 52 (56, 60, 60, 64, 68) sts. Next Row K1, p2, k2, p2; rep from , end k1. Next Row P1, k2, * p2, k2; rep from , end p1. Rep last 2 rows once, Bind off in rib. POCKET* With smaller needles, cast on 20 (20, 24, 24, 28, 28) sts. Row 1 P1, k2, p2, k2; rep from end, p1. Row 2 K1, p2, p2; rep from * end, k1. Row 3 Rep Row 1. Row 4 K1, p2, k2, p2; rep from end, k1. Change to larger needles and work as follows: Next Row K to end, evenly dec 2 sts. Next Row Purl. Cont in St st until pocket measures 5-1/4 (5-1/2, 6, 6-1/4, 6-1/2, 7)", ending with a RS row. Next Row Purl to end, inc 2 sts evenly along row . Change to smaller needles and work as follows: Row 1 P1, k2, * p2, k2; rep from , end, p1. Row 2 K1, p2, k2, p2; rep from, end k1. Row 3 Rep Row 1. Row 4 K1, p2, k2, p2, rep from , end k1. Bind off in rib. FINISHING* Sew shoulder seams. Sew side edges of hood to front neck. Place pocket in center and sew in place. Fold sleeves in half lengthwise, placing folds to shoulder seams, sew sleeves in place. Join side and sleeve seams.
